KMyMoney is now in string-freeze in preparation for the release candidate of version 3.98, which we expect to RC1, on May 15th. Almost exactly one year after we started the work on porting KMyMoney to KDE4, we will release a version deemed stable enough for general use.
I have been using it for my daily needs since September and it behaved usually well, but there are still some problems here and there. Right now, we are dealing with the porting of some of the main widgets to full Qt4, so it's going to make some interesting 2 weeks until release. We may end up releasing with some cosmetic glitches here and there, but the overall stability and most importantly, the stability and safety of the data, has been tested over and over to make sure we don't hit any major bug in this release.
Since we started the port back on May of last year, I have acted as the release manager, and as liaison with other KDE teams. It has been a really interesting and educational experience, dealing with issues that we didn't have back at the Sourceforge repository. Also, I have got more and more into relationships with the KDE community, which I had previously only looked at through the Planet. I think that's what I cherish more about this time.
Now, we have some interesting times ahead of us. First, a lot of hard work until the release. We currently have 22 open bugs, and I wish that goes down to less than 10 by the time of the release. Then, we will be moving the kdereview, for acceptance into extragear. We have a more than proven record of releases and a good development workflow, so I don't expect major issues there, but it will be stressful nonetheless. After that, a lot more work will surely arise from the increased feedback after the release. Last but not least, we have work to do on the Alkimia front, to create a working example and connect KMyMoney to it.
Interesting times ahead of us, that's for sure! As one of those KDE postcard says, "Free sofware never sleeps".

That's cool, seeing kmymoney making it to KDE4 ! And of course, I'm very excited with alkimia too, I'll drag Stephane into it...
