Today we are entering yet another string-freeze. That's 2 weeks before we release version 3.97 of KMyMoney, our third beta and hopefully our last before releasing a release candidate.
This cycle has been bumpy, with lots of work going into converting existing widgets to full Qt4 mode. KDE 4.4 had some ugly surprises for us regarding K3ListView not updating correctly, so we had to do some out-of-schedule and convert some of the list to QTreeWidget, QListWidget, etc. Fortunately, not all of them had issues, because that would have been a nightmare. So far 24 bugs were closed during this cycle, but we got 31 new ones. Some of them are wishlists, and some are due to wrong setups, bad packages, etc. All in all, we still have 22 bugs open for the KDE4 version, which is not bad, and we still have 2 weeks fully devoted to stabilization.
I also diverted a little, and had some fun working on a new icon. I had the help from Hans on the forums, and he came up with a good one, but it's still not quite ready to replace our current icon. It's getting close, though. A little help from a good designer could get us there. *blink* *blink*
In the meantime, we felt a lot of love since we came to the KDE SVN, so we added "Part of the KDE family" to the splash screen of our upcoming release. I haven't seen any official guidelines on how to put it, so we did our best effort. I think it looks cute.

So, we are 2/3 through our release cycle, and I think we are in good shape, but there is still a lot of work ahead, as usual.
Last, I got my plane tickets. It will be a long trip back and forth in less than a week. 13hs to go and 16hs back, if there are no unpleasant surprises. Not to mention that the fares was equivalent to more than a month salary, which I'll hopefully get back courtesy of the KDE ev. My credit card is pretty much on fire right now.
Finally meeting people in person, and planning for world domination makes it worth it, right?

"Branding"
Hi,
great to see what you guys are doing!
Just one suggestion: As you state "Part of the KDE family" (which is great) I would remove "for KDE" at the bottom, as KMyMoney will run also on Gnome (and perhaps Windows etc.). It is actually one idea of the new KDE-branding (as far as I understood it) to shift from the wrong impression "KDE programs only run on KDE" to "this program is part of this great KDE-community".
Regards
Markus
yeah
Markus has a very good point, KMyMoney is not FOR KDE, it's made by ppl part OF KDE. It's for ANYONE who wants to use it, be it on win, mac, linux, etc etc etc :D
yeah, right
Nicely said, until you have to really support it, and due to the tight integration, it won't work unless you have system settings, kdepim, akonadi, etc. So, it works in other systems, but it works best in KDE.
Not trying to annoy anyone, just being realistic after a couple of years doing support.
