KDE Finance group mailing list

asoliverez's picture

We now have a mailing list where all the KDE Finance apps can subscribe and get together. For now, it's Skrooge, Kraft and KMyMoney, but I'm sure others will follow.

If you are in any way related or you are simply willing to help us get our act together, the mailing list is kde-finance-apps@kde.org. Thanks, David!

Now, to plan our first meeting to conquer the finance world!

integration with POS software?

Hey all, on LinkedIn's "KDE User" group someone started a discussion inquiring about whether there was any KDE solution for point of sales software. Someone there pointed out Lemon POS (http://sourceforge.net/projects/lemonpos/). One of the first comments there is from a person recommending that there should be integration with an accounting application. Figured this might be another development group worth partnering with while you're building a little business oriented app community :)

They are in the group. So far, we have Skrooge, Kraft, KMyMoney, Association Subscriber Manager, and LemonPOS. Plus, people from other working groups who may have something to say about our work.

Is this purely dev-to-dev, or will it include user questions? If the latter it needs listing on UserBase's 'where to get help' :-). If the former, do you plan a user list, or maybe a user forum?

So far, it's at a stage of "let's get together and see what we can do". Not strictly devs, but people involved with the application in some way. Designers, translators, documenters, developers, etc.

Further on, if the integration really plays out, we'll probably add more infrastructure. No need to build something that nobody will use for the moment.

People involved

In my eyes, it's not a dev / no-dev situation. We need all kinds of talents at this point. Currently more from the perspective of people who can come up with a set of requirements and have knowledge about the subject(s). So it's also people with a background in e.g. accounting, usability and those who know about the processes involved to run a small business.
