What's better than a dragon to fly an ash cloud?

I'm here waiting for news from Lufthansa whether my flight will finally take place or not. Over the weekend, it seemed like a no go, but today the skies seemed to be better. So, it looks like this dragon is going to finally make it to Frankfurt. The next checkpoint is tomorrow at 6am when the incoming plane is supposed to take off from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires. It should arrive at 7pm and my flight departs at 9pm back to Frankfurt.

So, why would I want to go to Europe when everyone seems to be trying to get out of there? Because, on Friday starts the first meeting toward world domination, the KDE Finance Apps Spring meeting 2010, and I am going to be a part of it. Dragons are going to take over the world, and nothing better than an ash cloud to announce it (just being poetic, I know this is causing serious issues everywhere. I have a couple of friends stranded abroad myself).

Over the weekend, developers from 4 applications will gather to lay out plans for joint efforts and what I expect to be the first step in a new Pillar of KDE, FinanceStack. A lot of nerdy talks and comments, beer, photos, karaoke (I hope not!) and a lot of fun are sure to take place. I am looking forward to meeting face to face all the people I have been working with these last few years since I joined the KDE community. To me, it will be a very important milestone, and I hope the first of many more to come.

Now, I expect to make it there and back safely, just like the rest of the people coming to the meeting. Gassho!
