As I told in my previous post, I am now using Linux at work. I have been running Arch at home since October, and I never looked back, but in this case, the servers are Ubuntu 9.04, so I decided to give Kubuntu a new chance. I installed Kubuntu 9.04 to stay in sync with the servers.

So, I installed it myself, then activated the Kubuntu backport PPAs to get the latest KDE version. Well, it was not the latest, but at least it was 4.3.1. It looks like they had stopped updating the Jaunty short before Karmic's release. Well, it wasn't bad.

As some of you may know, I switched jobs in February. I left Accenture after almost 3 years there as a software architect and team leader. I'm now working at a small consulting firm, Enerminds, as a Java and C++ developer. The interesting thing about it is that I was offered to use Linux as my main desktop. After almost 13 years in IT, it's the first time I'm using it as my main desktop at work, and it has been an awesome experience.

I should have posted this long time ago, at least 2 months. Mid last year, Pallavi Damera approached us for a new usability testing of KMyMoney. After some back and forth, it was decided to test on KMyMoney 1.0.2, which was just about to be released at that time, and the budget and ledger areas would be the main focus of the tests. Budget is like the dumb son of the views, having been without maintainer for a long time. and the ledger is the main view to enter information, and therefore the most important one.

Some time ago, I took over an orphan KMyMoney package in SVN. I fixed so that it works, but I wasn't so happy with it. Since it downloads a straight snapshot from SVN, it doesn't have docs or translations.

Today we are entering yet another string-freeze. That's 2 weeks before we release version 3.97 of KMyMoney, our third beta and hopefully our last before releasing a release candidate.
